A strong storm on Wednesday (12th of December) dropped close to 10 inches of snow totaling 1 inch of SWE in a short period of time. This rapid and heavy loaded pushed this slope past its breaking point. The slide was likely triggered by a sluff or small slab on the steep, upper part of the slope where the snowpack is thinner, then propagated into the deeper part of the pack. Photo GNFAC
