Under mostly clear skies temperatures are in the upper 20’s to low 30’s F. Winds are blowing 5-20 mph out of the west. Today, the ridge of high pressure that currently resides over the region will begin to break down. This will produce increasing clouds and gusty ridgetop winds by this afternoon. Highs today will warm into 30’s F as the weather pattern begins to change. There is a slight chance of snow showers tonight and a better chance tomorrow. The mountains should see 1-3” by tomorrow evening.

Since yesterday morning the mountains picked up a trace to 1” of snow. At 5 a.m. skies are clearing and temperatures are in the teens to mid-20’s F. Winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-SW. Today, a ridge of high pressure builds over the area producing clear skies and calm conditions. Temperatures will warm into the 20’s to low 30’s F by this afternoon. No snow is expected in the next 24 hours.

Under increasing clouds, mountain temperatures are in the 20s with southwest to northwest winds blowing 10-25 mph. Today will remain cloudy, but clear tonight as temperatures fall into the teens with westerly winds at 10-20 mph. Snow flurries this afternoon may drop a trace to 1” of new snow.

There has been no snowfall in the last 24 hours. At 5 a.m. under clear skies, mountain temperatures are in the teens with near zero in the valleys. Wind is west at 10-20 mph in the southern ranges and 20-30 mph in the north. Today will be sunny with temperatures reaching the low 20s before dropping to near zero tonight and winds will ease to 10-20 mph from the west.

The mountains did not get any new snow in the past 24 hours. Temperatures this morning are teens F and wind is west-southwest at 10-20 mph with gusts of 25-30 mph. Near Cooke City, wind is west-northwest at 5-10 mph. Under mostly clear skies today, temperatures will be high teens to low 20s F with west-northwest wind at 15-25 mph.

Yesterday morning the mountains near Bozeman, Big Sky, and Cooke City got 2-3” of snow. Wind yesterday was west-northwest at 20-30 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph. This morning, wind is west-northwest at 15-25 mph and temperatures are in the single digits F. Under clear skies today, temperatures will reach the mid-teens F with westerly wind at 10-20 mph. The New Year will begin with a ridge of high pressure over the region bringing clear skies and cold temperatures with little chance for snow until next weekend.

The mountains near Cooke City received another foot of snow since yesterday morning. The mountains near Bozeman and Big Sky got 7-10”, and near West Yellowstone got 2-4”. Temperatures this morning are teens to low 20s F and wind is southwest at 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Today, temperatures will drop to the low teens F with west-southwest wind at 30-40 mph, and the mountains could get 2-4” of snow by evening.

Cooke City remains in the cross hairs of a major winter storm. Over the past 24 hours, Fisher Creek Snotel Site has received 12” of new snow with higher amounts likely at upper elevations. The mountains around Bozeman, Big Sky and West Yellowstone have picked up 2-4” over the past 24 hours. At 5 a.m. temps are in the teens to mid-20’s F and winds are blowing 20-40 mph out of the west with ridgetop gusts pushing 50 mph. Today, snow will continue across the advisory area. The mountains around Cooke City will see 6-8” during the day and another 6-8” tonight. The mountains around Bozeman, Big Sky and West Yellowstone will see 2-4” today with an additional 6-8” tonight.

Over the past 24 hours the mountains around Cooke City picked up 12-15” of new snow. The mountains around Bozeman and Big Sky received 3-5” while the West Yellowstone area received 1-2”. Currently, temps are in the teens F and winds are blowing 20-40 mph out of the west with gusts in Hyalite and Big Sky breaking 50 mph. Today, temps will warm into the upper teens to low 20’s F and moderate to strong winds will continue out of the west. Snow will continue around Cooke City where an additional 6-8” will fall by tomorrow morning. The rest of the advisory area will see light snow showers today and tonight. Most areas will see 2-4” by tomorrow morning.

In the last 24 hours 1-2” fell in the southern mountains and Cooke City. Under cloudy skies, ridgetop winds are SW at 20-35 mph and mountain temperatures are 10F. The next 3 days will be snowy with the heaviest amounts falling in the southern mountains. Winds will remain SW at 20-35 mph as temperatures reach 20F during the day and low teens at night. By tomorrow morning the mountains around Bozeman and Big Sky will have 2-4”, the southern ranges will have 4-6” and Cooke City 8-12”.
