Overnight a trace of new snow fell in the mountains around Big Sky. This morning, temperatures range from the upper teens to mid-20s F under mostly clear skies and winds are blowing 10-20 mph out of the west. Today, high pressure will dominate the weather pattern producing mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures. Highs will warm into the upper 30s to mid-40s F and winds will continue to blow 10-20 mph out of the W-SW. The ridge of high pressure begins to break down this evening as a storm approaches from the west. Tomorrow looks to be mostly cloudy with a chance of valley rain and mountain snow by the afternoon. 3-6” of snow will likely accumulate in the mountains by Wednesday morning.

A fast but potent storm system dropped 5-7” of snow overnight in the mountains around Big Sky and Cooke City including the northern Gallatin Range. The Bridger Range picked up 4-5” while the mountains around West Yellowstone squeezed out 2-3”. This morning, temperatures range from the mid-teens to low 20s F and winds are blowing 15-25 mph out of the west. Today, temperatures will warm into the upper 20s to mid-30s F under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Winds will continue to blow 15-25 mph out of the W-SW. A building ridge of high pressure will produce clearing skies and nicer weather tonight into tomorrow.

This morning temperatures were a few degrees below freezing at ridgetops. Winds increased overnight and were blowing 15-20 mph from the SW gusting 40 mph. Today winds will continue blowing 20-40 mph from the SW and high temperatures will be in the upper 30s F. Clouds will move over the area ahead of an approaching cold front. Snow will start falling late this afternoon and end tomorrow morning with 2-4 inches accumulating.

The mountains near Big Sky and Bozeman received a trace of snow yesterday afternoon. This morning temperatures were near 20 degrees F with winds blowing 10 mph gusting 20 mph from the SW. Today will be sunny with high temperatures near 40 degrees F and winds continuing 10-20 mph shifting to the W. Strong winds should arrive on Saturday followed by a little snowfall Saturday night. 

This morning mountain temperatures were in the upper teens and low 20s F with winds blowing 2-8 mph from the S and E. Today will be mostly sunny with some clouds this afternoon. Temperatures will climb into the mid to high 30s F and winds will remain calm. A few snowflakes or raindrops may fall today mainly near West Yellowstone but no accumulation is expected until this weekend.

In the last 24 hours an inch of snow fell in the southern Madison Range and around West Yellowstone while everywhere else remained dry. Light winds from the south to southwest are blowing at 5-15 mph under mostly clear skies with temperatures near 20F. Today will be partly cloudy with mountain temperatures reaching the low 40s. No new snow is expected for the next few days.

Since yesterday morning snow squalls dropped 7 inches in the Bridger Range, 4-6 inches in the northern Madison and northern Gallatin Ranges and 1-2 inches further south to West Yellowstone and Cooke City.  The storm has ended and at 5 a.m. temperatures are in the low teens under clearing skies. Gusts of 40 mph blew out of the W-SW early last night and have now calmed to 10 mph.  Today will be mostly sunny but tonight clouds will build from a southwest flow and drop 1-2 inches around Cooke City.

Easter Sunday delivered a nice shot of snow to the mountains of southwest Montana. Over the past 24 hours the Bridger Range received 5-6 inches of new snow. The rest of the advisory area picked up 3-4 inches. At 4 a.m. it has stopped snowing and temperatures are in the upper teens to mid-20s F under cloudy skies. Winds are fairly light blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-SW with gusts around Big Sky blowing 20 mph. Today, temperatures will warm into the upper 20s to mid-30s F under cloudy skies and winds will continue to blow 10-20 mph out of the W-SW. A moist southwest flow will keep conditions unsettled and the mountains south of Bozeman could see 1-3 inches of new snow during the day. The Bridger Range could see a trace to one inch. Snow tapers off this evening and Tuesday looks like a nice day.

Overnight the Bridger Range picked up 2-3 inches of new snow. The rest of the advisory area picked up a trace to one inch. This morning mountain temperatures are in the upper teens to mid-20s F and winds are light out of the S-SE. Today, a moist southwest flow will keep conditions unsettled and the mountains could pick up an additional 1-2 inches by the end of the day. Temperatures will gradually warm into the upper 20s to mid-30s F and winds will remain light out S-SW. Unsettled weather will continue over the next 24 hours. The mountains could receive another 2-4 inches of snow tonight through tomorrow.

This morning temperatures were in the low 20s F. SW ridgetop winds were blowing 10-20 mph and gusting to 30 mph. A trough of low pressure off the coast of Washington will send moisture and cool temperatures to SW Montana through the weekend. Today clouds will move over the area and produce valley rain and mountain snow by late afternoon. Temperatures should reach the mid 30s F and winds should blow 15-30 mph from the SW. By tomorrow morning 1-2 inches of snow should fall.
