At 5 a.m. temperatures are hovering right around freezing with the highest elevations dropping slightly below freezing. Skies are partly cloudy and winds are blowing 10-25 mph out of the west. Today, highs will warm into the mid to upper 40s F under partly cloudy skies. Winds will continue to blow 15-25 mph out of the west with a few ridgetop gusts exceeding 30 mph. There is a slight chance of mountain snow showers this evening with a better chance of precipitation tomorrow into Tuesday.
Over the past 24 hours no new snow has fallen as a ridge of high pressure builds over the area. This morning temperatures range from the upper 20s to low 30s F under clear skies. Winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-SW with a few ridgetop gusts exceeding 20 mph. Today, high pressure remains over the area producing warm and dry conditions. Highs will warm into the mid to upper 40s F and winds will remain light to moderate out of the W-SW. Above average temps will continue through the weekend.
Since yesterday morning, the mountains south of Bozeman and near Big Sky got 5” of snow, the Bridger Range got 3”, and the rest of the area got 1-2”. Winds overnight were out of the north-northwest at 30-40 mph with gusts over 50 mph in Big Sky and Cooke City. In the Bridger Range, winds were westerly at 10-20 mph. Temperatures this morning are in the teens to low-20s F. Under partly sunny skies today, temperatures will reach the low 40s F and wind will be out of the northwest at 10-20 mph. More sunshine and warm weather are on deck for the weekend.
Since yesterday, the mountains near Big Sky and Cooke City received 2-3” of new snow, Hyalite got 5” and the Bridger Range and mountains near West Yellowstone remained dry. Winds overnight were out of the north-northwest at 15-25 mph with gusts in the 30s and up to 45 mph in the Bridger Range and Cooke City. Winds today will be northerly at 15-25 mph. Temperatures this morning are in the teens to low 20s F and will be in the 20s to low-30s F today. Another 1-3” of snow is expected by the end of today before warm, dry conditions arrive.
Yesterday, a trace of snow fell in the Bridger Range and West Yellowstone, 3-4” up Hyalite and 1-2” everywhere else. At the ridgetop, winds are east to northeast at 15 mph with gusts of 20-40 mph. At 5 a.m. skies are mostly cloudy and temperatures are near 20F. Today will remain mostly cloudy as temperatures reach the low 30s and winds shift north at 15-25 mph. Tonight, scattered snow showers may drop 1-2” of snow. Get your winter fix now, because sunny and unseasonably warm weather is slated for Friday through Monday.
Last night, scattered showers dropped a trace to 1”of snow in the northern mountains and 1-2” in the south. This morning temperatures are in the high teens and winds are east to northeast at 10-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph at Lionhead and Cooke City. Today will be cloudy, scattered snow will continue, and temperatures will rise into the upper 20s with east winds at 15-30 mph. The mountains will get 2-4” today with Cooke City poised for 6-8” before the storm tapers off this afternoon.
Overnight a fast but potent storm delivered a good shot of snow to the advisory area. At 5 a.m. the Bridger Range and mountains around West Yellowstone are recording 8-10 inches of new snow while the mountains around Big Sky and Cooke City are recording 5-6 inches. This morning temps range from the mid-teens to low 20s F and winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of W-NW. Today, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy and there is a chance for scattered mountain snow showers, but no real accumulation is expected. Highs today will warm into the mid-20s to low 30s F and winds will continue to blow 10-20 mph out of the W-NW. Another round of snow moves into the area tonight and tomorrow. The mountains should see 1-3 inches by tomorrow morning and potentially 6-8 inches by Wednesday morning.
High pressure remains over the area producing clear skies and calm conditions. This morning temperatures are in the teens to low 20s F and winds are blowing 10-20 mph out of the W-SW. Today will be one of transition as another storm system approaches from the west. Skies will start out clear this morning but become increasingly cloudy by this afternoon. Temps will warm into the upper 20s to low 30s F and winds will increase throughout the day. Snow develops over the mountains tonight with 2-4 inches possible by tomorrow morning.
A trace to one inch of snow fell yesterday morning with west winds blowing 10-20 mph at the ridge lines. This morning, under clear skies, temperatures are in the teens and winds are light at 5-10 mph out of the west. Today will be sunny, calm and temperatures will reach the low 40s. Another storm is forecasted Sunday night into Monday which should bring more snow to the mountains.
At 5 a.m. snowfall totals since yesterday morning range from 3” near West Yellowstone to 7” in Hyalite and 5-6” elsewhere. Winds have been out of the northwest at 10-20 mph with gusts in the 40s overnight. Temperatures are in the low teens F this morning and will be in the 20s F today. Wind will remain out of the northwest at 15-25 mph today, and then calm to 5-15 mph out of north-northeast tonight. The mountains will get 3-5” of snow today before high pressure sets in for the weekend.
