Last night the southern Madison Range (Carrot Basin) picked up 6” of new snow, the Bridger Range got a trace and 1-2” fell elsewhere. Ridgetop winds are 10-15 mph from the E-NE and mountain temperatures are in the single digits under cloudy skies. Today will warm into the teens, skies will become partly cloudy and easterly winds will remain light. Snow flurries this morning may drop another inch.
The southern ranges and mountains around Big Sky got 2-3” of new snow, and the mountains around Bozeman picked up a trace. SNOTEL sites in the southern areas have not reported since yesterday afternoon, so the mountains around West Yellowstone and Cooke City might have an additional 1-3”. Temperatures this morning are in the teens F. Wind overnight was out of the west to southwest at 5-15 mph with gusts of 20-30 mph. Light snow showers will continue today with temperatures in the low 20s F and wind out of the north to northeast at 5-15 mph. Snow showers through tonight will deliver 1-2” to the northern mountains and 2-4” to the southern mountains.
The mountains near Big Sky and the southern ranges got 1-2” of new snow overnight, and the mountains around Bozeman did not get any new snow. Temperatures are in the teens F this morning. Wind is out of the west to southwest at 10-15 mph with gusts in the 20s. Today will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the 20s F, wind out of the southwest at 15-25 mph, and light snow. Snow showers tonight will deliver 1-2” to the mountains around Bozeman and 2-4” to the southern ranges with more expected tomorrow.
Skies are partly cloudy and there’s no new snow this morning. Winds are averaging 10-20 mph with gusts of 25-30 out of the S-SW with mountain temperatures in the mid-teens. Today, S-SW winds will be 10-15 mph, temperatures will warm to the 20s and skies will become mostly cloudy. Moist air will push in from the south and bring scattered snow showers later this afternoon. By morning I expect a trace to 1” of snow in the north and 1-2” in the southern areas.
Over the past 24 hours the mountains picked up 1-2” of new snow. This morning, snow has tapered off and skies are partly to mostly cloudy. Temperatures range from the teens to mid-20s F and winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-SW. As the storm system exits to the east, skies will become partly cloudy to mostly clear by this afternoon. Temps will warm into the mid to upper 20s F and winds will remain light to moderate out of the W-SW. The next 24 hour period looks to be dry with seasonal temperatures.
At 5 a.m. mountain temperatures are in the 20s F and winds are blowing 15-30 mph out of the W-SW. Today, a weak storm system will move into the area producing cloudy skies, increasing winds and a chance for snow. Before the storm arrives, temps will warm into upper 20s to low 30s F and winds will continue to blow 15-30 mph out of the W-SW with ridgetop gusts breaking 40 mph. Moisture arrives by late morning/early afternoon and the mountains should see 1-3” of new snow by this evening.
At 5 a.m. an inversion shows below freezing temperatures in the valleys and 34-37F in the mountains around Bozeman and Big Sky. In the southern ranges temperatures are 10-20F this morning and will reach the mid-30s this afternoon. Winds are W-SW at 20-30 mph with gusts near 40 and Lulu Pass outside Cooke City is recording north winds at 10-20 mph. Today, winds will remain the same, skies will be partly cloudy and mountain temperatures will drop to below freezing tonight.
Today is the 5th day in a row without snow, our longest dry-spell of the winter. This morning mountain temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s with teens around West Yellowstone and Cooke City. Winds are blowing W-NW at 30-40 mph in the northern ranges and 15-25 mph in the southern areas. The Bridger Range also has strong mid-mountain winds (S) at 30+ mph. Today will be clear, temperatures will rise to near freezing and winds will remain the same.
At 4 a.m. temperatures are in the single digits to teens F. Wind overnight was out of the west to northwest at 10-15 mph with gusts of 30 mph. In the Bridger Range, wind is steady at 20-25 mph, and likely blowing downhill on the east side of the ridge. Today will have clear skies with temperatures in the 20s F and wind out of the west to northwest at 5-15 mph.
Temperatures this morning are in the teens F under clear skies. Wind is westerly at 5-15 mph with gusts of 15-25 mph. Today will be sunny with temperatures in the 20s F. Wind will be 5-15 mph out of the west to southwest. Clear and dry weather will continue into to Tuesday. Wind speeds will increase Monday night and there is a chance for light precipitation Tuesday night.
