There’s no new snow to report, just cold temperatures and wind. At 5 a.m. mountain temperatures are zero to -10F with west to north winds blowing 30-35 mph in the Bridger Range, 15-25 mph in Hyalite and Big Sky, and 5-10 mph in the southern ranges. Today will be partly cloudy and temperatures will rise into the double digits with increasing west to north wind. The rest of the week looks to be dry with warming temperatures.
Since yesterday morning the mountains got 12” of snow near Big Sky, 9” in the Bridger Range and Hyalite, 7” south of Big Sky to West Yellowstone, and 4” near Cooke City. Yesterday wind was southwest at 15-25 mph with gusts to 45 mph, and overnight wind shifted to the north-northwest at 5-15 mph. This morning, temperatures are single digits to teens below zero F and will remain below zero F today with wind out of the north to northeast at 5-15 mph. No snow is expected until next year.
Since yesterday morning, 11” of low density snow fell at Lionhead Ridge near West Yellowstone and 3-6” fell elsewhere. Wind has been out of the west to southwest at 15-25 mph with gust of 40-50 mph. This morning, temperatures range from the single digits to mid-20s F. Today, a cold front will decrease temperatures into the teens and single digits F. Wind will be 30-40 mph and shift northwest this afternoon. By this evening, the mountains will get 6-10” of low density snow with over a foot possible near West Yellowstone and Cooke City.
Yesterday, the Bridger Range received 8” of low density snow while mountains south of Bozeman including Big Sky received 2-3”. The mountains near Cooke City and West Yellowstone picked up an inch or two. This morning, temps are a few degrees below zero F in the south and 5-10 degrees F in the north. West-northwest winds are blowing 20-40 mph in the mountains around Bozeman and Big Sky and 15-25 mph in the southern ranges. Today, snow and wind will increase across the forecast region. The mountains will see 2-4” by this afternoon with increasing west-northwest winds. Snow continues tonight with another 2-4” possible by tomorrow morning. A stronger storm impacts the area tomorrow with more accumulating snowfall.
Over the past 24 hours the Bridger Range picked up 4-6” of new snow. The rest of the forecast area picked up 1-2”. This morning, it’s still snowing lightly in the Bridger Range and dry elsewhere. Temps range from the single digits above or below zero F and winds are blowing 5-20 mph out of the west-northwest. Today, skies will start cloudy but become increasing clear by this afternoon. Temps warm into the teens F and winds will remain light to moderate out of the west-northwest. No accumulation is expected today or tonight, but more snow arrives tomorrow and Sunday.
Yesterday, the Bridger Range picked up 3” of new snow while the rest of the forecast area picked up a trace to one inch. This morning, temps are in the single digits F and winds are blowing 5-15 mph out of west-northwest. Today, temps warm into the teens under cloudy skies. The mountains could see one inch of snow by this afternoon. Winds remain light to moderate out of the west-northwest. No significant accumulation is expected tonight or tomorrow.
In the last 24 hours the mountains picked up 2-3” of new snow with the northern Gallatin getting 5”. Currently, mountain temperatures are 5-10F and winds are west to northwest at 10-20 mph. Skies will clear this morning, temperatures will rise to 20F and drop into the single digits tonight, and westerly winds will blow 15-25 mph at the ridgetops. No new snow is expected in the next 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours 6” of new snow fell in the Bridger Range, 2” in Hyalite, a trace around Big Sky, 1” at Lionhead, and 3” outside Cooke City. Under clearing skies, mountain temperatures are 10-15F. Early this morning ridgetop winds shifted from westerly to easterly and are blowing light at 5-10 mph. Today, temperatures will reach 20F and skies will become mostly cloudy by late afternoon. Winds will remain light and shift westerly with 1-2” of snow falling tonight.
Over the last 24 hours the mountains got a trace to 1” of snow and wind was west to southwest at 15-25 mph. This morning, temperatures are low teens to low 20s F and will be high teens to low 20s F today. Wind will be westerly at 15-25 mph today. A quick storm this morning could drop 3-5” of snow in the Bridger Range and Cooke City with 2-4” elsewhere. This afternoon and tonight will be partly cloudy with another round of light snow tomorrow afternoon.
This morning, temperatures are single digits to low teens F and rising from overnight lows near and below zero F. Over the last 24 hours, wind was southwest to west at 15-25 mph with gusts in the 30s and there is no new snow in the mountains. Clouds will increase today, and light snow is expected late morning with wind out of the southwest at 20-35 mph and temperatures in the low 20s F. By tomorrow morning the mountains will have 2-3” of new snow near Bozeman and Big Sky with 3-5” near West Yellowstone and Cooke City.
